I had the pleasure of going to Park City, Utah, last weekend to help Echoes of Hope with social media. Echoes of Hope is a non-profit set up by Luc and Stacia Robitaille to “awaken the spirit of hope in the lives of at-risk and emancipated foster youth by providing the resources, knowledge, skills, love, and support they need to reach their full potential.”
Every year, during the Sundance Film Festival, Echoes of Hope puts on a celebrity charity hockey game. This year was their seventh game. It features former NHL players as well as celebrity actors. This year’s event included such hockey greats as Ron Duguay, Chris Chelios and Brendan Shanahan, and actors David Boreanaz, Michael Rosenbaum and Isaiah Mustafa. Boreanaz’s son, Jaden, also participated. It was great to see father and son on the ice.
The game was really fun for everyone. You could see the enjoyment in the player’s faces as they laughed and skated. Being in such an intimate venue allowed those in the audience to be close to the action and to interact personally with the celebrities, who stayed around after the game to sign autographs and take photos.
Being in Park City during Sundance is an experience everyone interested in film should try to attend. I am definitely planning to return again next year!
